‘Blasphemous” new song slammed by Christians

A new single released by ‘The Urban Foxes’ has caused outrage amongst the Christian community.

The song is titled ‘If Jesus Had an iPhone’ and many have labelled it as “blasphemous” and “disrespectful” to the life of Jesus.

The song itself, imagines the scenario where Jesus is living in the 21st Century, with all the comforts of modern living and technology. However it is some of the more inflammatory lyrics that have drawn attention, as they call into question everything we thought we knew about Jesus.

“Not many people realise this, but 17 years of Jesus’ life are missing from The Bible” snarls the lead singer using an uncharacteristic style of vocals, that combines a mix of spoken word and singing. It will be a shocking statement to some, but it a fascinating aspect of The Bible that has often been overlooked. It calls into question the validity of Jesus’ life, if such as a large portion of it are indeed missing. The song also hints to the long standing conspiracy that Jesus had sexual relations with his own mother.

But conspiracies aside, this song does raise some an very intriguing question. What if Jesus did have an iPhone? Would it really have been easy for Jesus to spread his message on social media. Or perhaps, with so much information in front of us every day, maybe people would not have cared. If Jesus uploaded a miracle to Youtube, many would say that it is just fake!

Religion is always a touchy subject. However, on balance the band do a good job at projecting the wider message here. Being able to question something and to look it at things from a new perspective, only helps us to appreciate and understand what is already there.

Until the second messiah is upon us, we can only dream of Jesus going viral on TikTok!
