Poland ruin travel plans for thousands of passengers with last minute border restrictions

Poland has decided to close it’s air borders until 1st of July, after previously stating that they would open their borders to all those in the EU (Including the UK.)

Late last night they had a sudden change of heart and extended the ban until the 1st of July. This has caused Wizz Air and other carriers to cancel all flights, causing chaos for thousands of passengers who had made travel arrangements.

It is unclear why they decided to extend the ban after previously reassuring passengers that they would be able to enter Poland after the 16th June, without any need to quarantine. This led to thousands of passengers booking flights with carriers such as Wizz Air, for as early as the 17th of June.

However, the airline sent an email to its passengers at 3am this morning informing them that flights have now been cancelled.

With just hours notice for many, it has thrown passengers plans into complete chaos.

UK citizens are still able to enter Poland without quarantine, but only through the land borders or Germany, Slovakia, and Czech Republic. With many routes now limited to those three countries, it seems unlikely that an alternative route will be possible before July 1st.

There is still very little information as to why the Polish government made such a decision. But with the Polish elections soon approaching, it shows a shambolic side to the current government with a clear lack of communication and decisiveness.

Support where you can!

Being a musician during this time really does suck! All you can do is try to keep writing and releasing new material. I really appreciate your support during this difficult time. So if you could take 2 minutes to check out my latest single, it would go a long way to help!
